Psalm 108[a]
A song. A psalm of David.
1 My heart, O God, is steadfast;
I will sing and make music with all my soul.
2 Awake, harp and lyre!
I will awaken the dawn.
3 I will praise you, Lord, among the nations;
I will sing of you among the peoples.
4 For great is your love, higher than the heavens;
your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
5 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;
let your glory be over all the earth.
I will sing and make music with all my soul.
2 Awake, harp and lyre!
I will awaken the dawn.
3 I will praise you, Lord, among the nations;
I will sing of you among the peoples.
4 For great is your love, higher than the heavens;
your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
5 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;
let your glory be over all the earth.
I was a musician trained in college. I must admit even though I studied all types of music, both genres and cultures, I never really studied music of the Bible. It just wasn't part of the curriculum. Yesterday's devotion about David praising God got me reading the Psalms.
And then a thought made my think..I wonder what it sounded like? And so I spent the day making up music to the Psalms of David. Today, perhaps you could make up a song to the Psalm of praise above..and I wonder what yours will sounds like?
There are so many ways to praise God. But let's extend that..what it would sound like to forgive someone, to pardon someone, to use kind words to someone, to be like Jesus -- what would that sound like?
I'm thinking it would sound glorious!
I'm thinking it would sound glorious!
