Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.
I can remember someone asking me how can you believe what is written in that book. It's old. It's so contradicting. You are a person of science and this is a thing of faith - the two don't mix!
The truth of the Bible is this. There are 4 gospels and the book of Acts that were written by eyewitnesses to all the accounts of what Jesus said and did. When these books were written, there were others alive who were also eyewitnesses and could have refuted the accounts - but they didn't.
Just because a book is old doesn't mean it's true.
Being criticized as a believer of Jesus is nothing new. These attacks have come since the time of Jesus (and even before really). What makes the Bible amazing, is that so much of it has come true so far (and much more to come). We have history on our side.
Yes, there is an element of faith the we have to have. The devil doesn't want you to believe. He would rather you live in a world of doubt and shame and addictions and hurts and habits rather than accept the truth and be free. I know for me living in that world was dark and ugly. But living in the truth of Christ has freed me and so it's hard for me to even fathom why someone wouldn't believe (even though I've been there).
Take refuge in His Word and be free.
