Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. Matthew 5:1-12, the Beatitude Series
The Bible says that no one has ever seen God. There have been times in the Bible where his likeness has been seen, but not actually seeing God. And so, who are the "pure in heart" that they get to see God? How do I get that type of heart?
Those that have the conversation with God and ask for a "new heart", those who repent and ask God to be the focus of their lives will receive. Continue to have the spiritual walk with God and we are promised to one day walk with Him - forever. As we walk with God spiritually here on earth, our heart will change and begin to be pure. And as we begin to live that pure life we will see the ugliness that our life of addiction created - and we will have to deal with it. And by dealing and making amends, that is one way of having a "pure heart"!
For now, we will "see God" in our lives by the type of life we choose to live. And if we choose to honor God now, we will literally "see" Him later. It's a choice and it's yours to make.
