Unfortunately, some people have never been inspired to walk intimately with the Lord. As a result of this, their faith is weak and their discipleship is ineffectual.
The world needs disciplined Christians to affirm and proclaim the teachings of Jesus, particularly His Command, “As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” John 13:34
The discipline that is needed to live a life of Christian love demands a strength that can only come from the Holy Spirit. This is nurtured through prayer, Bible Study and a hunger for a more profound experience with God.
—This devotional today goes along with the sermon my pastor gave yesterday. Just like God loved us and gave us Jesus to serve us, so must we serve one another. And by serving (blessing others) our love for Him and others is going to grow. We must bless others as we have been blessed. And I feel that as we bless others we will begin to appreciate broken we were before we decided to stop our addiction - and that we have been blessed with a second chance in our lives.
So my question to you (as the pastor also posed to us) is - HOW are you blessings others today? And not just in the good times? But are you blessing others when you are tired, hungry, feeling the need to return to your addiction? In those moments, find someone to bless and you might just find yourself staying the sobriety course.
